I was walking from Linguistics today. We had a substitute Asian grad student. He was explaining wh-movement and wrote the sentence on the board in English:
"Where did he go?"
After that, he asked another student for this sentence in Chinese, and began writing it on the board under the English.
他去了...
I was a little surprised, but started copying them down. He didn't finish the sentence.
"Oops, why am I writing characters?"
