Engloried

October 11 | Schwarzenbergplatz, Vienna

That's a Soviet monument in the middle of Vienna. I was so excited! The back reads:

Вечная слава героям Красной Армии, павшим в боях с Немецко - Фашистскими захватчиками за свободу и независимость народов Европы!

Translated:

Eternal glory to the heroes of the Red Army, fallen in battles with the German - Fascist invaders for the freedom and independence of the nations of Europe!

The center has a list of names and text that praises the Russian troops, with excerpts of the first Soviet national anthem - no wonder the Austrians don't like this monument.

And yes, I'm back in Budapest.
