November 1 | Cukráren u Turka, Štúrovo
My main motivation in going to Esztergom, beside the basic desire to go somewhere on a weekend, was probably to revisit this place. As you can see, I got a fruit pastry and a chocolate-hazelnut one. They were delicious!
I missed the train on the way back, and barely made the next one. The town of Esztergom is bigger than it seems. I decided to go to Tesco (about the size of our large grocery stores), but it was closed. Yeah, 1st of November is a Hungarian national holiday, and everything is closed. The only grocery store that I was able to visit was the tiny one downstairs - go them!
Anyway, I made a loop through the city and decided to visit a Chinese fast food place. There was an Asian family sharing a meal there. I ordered a dish, asked for chopsticks, and quickly finished it. (I had a train to catch.) Two things caught my attention.
- Japanese music playing in the background. Haven't heard any in a long time.
- One of the Asians nodded to me when I was leaving. I don't know if he was being polite, or just surprised that I did not use a fork.
So, I've had an interesting and brief trip to Slovakia. Except for Bratislava, I doubt that I'll return there again.
I want that chocolate hazelnut thing!
